I just wanted to share pictures of our adorable grandkids.. the first picture is Miss Hailey who is 10.. she's a 5th grader .. loves purple and of course Justin Beiber! She's also a major Twilight Series Fan and loves all things Bella and Edward!

The second picture is our grandson Brandon who is 7.. he'll be 8 in 2 months! He is all boy and loves to wrestle with his Papa! He has a girl friend... but he's too shy to tell you her name (is't that so sweet!).. He loves school and is a wiz in math and said that someday he would like to be the President of the United States!

Anniversary card for Mom and Dad!

Here is an Anniversary card that I made for my parents, I actually added a smaller butterfly near the sentiment and pulled up their wings to look like they were in flight.. I found the idea on a place called Pinterest! Wow I have to tell you that it is a really fun place to look around for ideas from creating cards of course.. to home dec ideas, food, travel, baby,inspirational quotes etc. There is something for everyone! When you sign up you set up what are called 'boards' and you pin things to them.. say that you are tired of the same old boring recipes and you would like to make something different, there are sooooo many recipes to view and you just click to repin them to your board for ideas later on.. and poof they are now a part of your site to view another time. I have boards for breads, yummy dessers, fabulous cakes and one titled just plain food and I could not believe all of the card art available to view... it's not all SU but there is quite a bit! I believe that you only need to be a facebook fan to get started .. so if you are interested I can send you an invite.. come look around and see if this is something you would like to try!

A Very Long Time...

I have to apologize to you for taking such a long break from this blog... my New Years Resolution is to keep this site updated ... sharing more artwork and maybe sprinkle a little family time in as well!

So much as happened since my last post but I won't bore you with all of that.. I will share that I am a New Nana to Lilyana Elise who is now 4 months old .. she is a beautiful little girl! She joins her two siblings, her big sister Miss Hailey who is 10 and her big brother Brandon (Mr B) as we all like to call him who is almost 8... I'll share photos of the kiddos I'm sure as time goes on! Here is a picture Miss Lily and her mommy

... and here are a few projects from last year .. I have a bunch to choose from but thought I would just share a few at a time, I hope you like them..

My sincere hope is that I will continue to share some of the older projects with you as well as newly created ones! I hope you will stop back often!

Trick or Treat!

I wanted to share the cards that I've been working on for our daughter and grand kids.. the first one is a card that I spotted online ... there have been so many cards being made using the Stampin Up owl punch for bats and ghosts that I had to create one myself! I decided to add eyes to my bat though and think he's much cuter with them! I hope my daughter agrees!!

The second card I created while sitting and chatting with my brother! He actually gave me ideas on color and design.. I was impressed! I just love this image.. it comes from the set "Greeting Card Kids" and is so much fun to watercolor! This one is for Miss Hailey and I'm sure she will love it because she really enjoys touching the raised images from embossing! It still needs a sentiment hanging off of the ribbon.. not sure what I'll be adding just yet... and the last card that I have to show you is for our grandson Brandon..I think he's going to love it! He absolutely loves dinosaurs and dragons so this should be a hit! The bats were punched out twice and layered then I added some gel pen to the top bat for emphasis!

A Budding Artist!

THIS is my Granddaughter Miss Hailey and as you can see by this picture is absolutely at home in my Studio! She wanted to create a Halloween card for her little brother Brandon so she set out to getting the items she needed.

I grabbed my Big Shot and she helped me crank the handle to create the haunted house.. we then used a baby wipe and black craft ink to make it look really spooky! ... for the inside of the card she used the spider web embossing folder and cut pieces of web from it and placed them strategically. She created the tombstones at the bottom because as she put it... it's not Halloween without tombstones Nana.. I punched the fence for her and I thought it quite cool that she also added an arm coming up from the ground with blood on it which at the same time puzzled me though because this is coming from a girl who cries at the mere sight of all things Halloween! Her family went to the Halloween store the other day and when they got to the door this fake Freddie Kruger's arm went up and down (that's all it did) and she turned and ran into the parking lot screaming.. her brother is 6 1/2 and he says Hailey it's just fake! Well, at least she created a fun little card for him! Anyway, I promised her I would share her card with all of you! Hailey said she hopes you like it!

National Cardmaking Day... just a little late!

I never posted the cards that I made for National Cardmaking Day.. I spent part of the afternoon at my friend Sue Culotti's house creating cards and then life got too busy and I plumb forgot to share them! So, here they are, there were only 3 but I really love them! We had a nice time chatting and creating, we always do.. bouncing ideas off of each other.. it's always fun to get together with Sue even if it's only for a short amount of time! I had picked up a really cute $1 stamp at Michael's in my travels... Frankenstein's to be frank.. isn't he the cutest! I just love their dollar spot! This was a really fun card to make and came together very quickly, gotta' love those! The hardest part of this card was deciding where to place the bats!! lol!

This second card.. well, was actually the first one that I made! I saw something like this on blogger somewhere and thought it would be fun to recreate so I set out to make it from memory.. I couldn't decide if I liked it better with the riding hood red on the left side or the right then decided it was better on the right since the ribbon color was so light.. I didn't bring the right color of ribbon so I raided Sue's stash.. you should see how she stores her ribbon.. really cool idea, she rolls the ribbon really tight and ends up with small spools of wound ribbon and they are all seperated by color and put in clam shell cases! What a smart idea Sue! So, this is the card I created.. it's all Stampin' Up except for the ribbon and maybe the colored pencils and copic blender pen used to make the watercolor effect on the main image. You can click on the picture to see more detail! I used the NEW Silver Glass which is LOTS of fun to play with and a few of the punches, the scallop circle and the NEW 2 1/2" circle punch.Oh and I used the new pearls for the buttons on her jacket!! I just love the image though.... isn't she A-dorable.. she is one of 4 from the set Greeting Card Kids and I'll be showcasing one of the other images in my next post so stay tuned!!

More cards to share...

Here's a really fun Collage-y card you can create with just ONE stamp set.. French Foliage found in the Holiday Mini!! I wasn't going to get this set till I had the opportunity to ink it up and well, let's just say it will be here on Tuesday when my order arrives! I just cannot tell you how easy this card is to create AND you can change the season just by changing the colors of ink you choose to use! The base color is More Mustard, the next layer is whisper white sponged with Early Espresso and the I cannot remember what set the sentiment came out of... the ribbon is the NEW Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding found in the Holiday Mini and the ink colors used are Cajun Craze, More Mustard and Early Espresso!~

This next project was done using the Sizzix Matchbox Die and some Rich Razzleberry cardstock. Wicked cool was the stamp set we used stamping the sentiment and the witches boots.. we then used Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie markers for the stripes on her socks.. the sentiment was stamped and punched out with the circle punch and layered over the large oval punch with dimensionals, we then added a black brad to on either side of the oval.. that was then layered onto a piece of Pumpkin Pie punched with the oval scallop punch.. the matchbox was run through the Big Shot with Rich Razzleberry and stamped with the bat stamp and then folded up! Punch your bat with the large bat punch and pop him and your witches boots with dimensionals and your done!

This Christmas card was a little different and I wasn't sure I was going to like it mostly because I'm not used to making a card for Christmas with much other than reds/greens or pinks/blues but I have been seeing allot of them out there in bloggerland and it's growing on me! The snowflake is from the new Sizzix Big Shot Die called Northern Frost and I LOVE it! there are 8... count them EIGHT different snowflakes on this die which measures 2 3/8" x 12 5/8" .. allota bang for your buck at only $21.95!! Then sentiment was stamped and then punched with the new Decorative Label punch and then layered onto a piece cut from the Lots of Tags Sizzlit 4 pack! Add one of the NEW Glimmer Brads to the center of the snowflake and tie it off with a piece of Silver Tinsel Trim which is also a NEW product in the Holiday Mini!!

This last card was really fun to make! Using a piece of Glossy cardstock you create a rainbow effect using different inks.. starting at the bottom of the piece and blending as you go with a sponge for each color! You then stamp your image on the front and then place it in the Spider Web embossing folder and run it through your Big Shot! (gosh if you don't have a big shot you should really look into getting one.. I use mine all the time!) After you emboss your piece you want to layer it over a piece of Black cardstock and then a piece of Old Olive (which is the card base).. you will then finish it off by stamping your sentiment onto another piece of glossy cardstock and sponging your favorite spooky color over it and punching it out with the extra large oval punch and viola' your done!

I just LOVE Fall! It's my FAVORITE time of year!

The cards that I am sharing here are cards that we made at my UL Nancy's just a few weeks ago.. many of the supplies used were from the NEW Holiday Mini and once I receive my order I will be making more to have on hand for the Holidays.. This first card was created using the Day of Gratitude set and the Autumn Spice designer paper. The base layer is Cajun Craze embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and a piece of the Autumn Spice DSP at the bottom.. then Old Olive and More Mustard cardstock were used for the medallion piece which was layered over Early Espresso Satin ribbon and then finished off with a Cajun Craze button tied off with linen thread. You have the option to sponge the cardstock if you like.. I used Cajun Craze over the embossed piece and around the bottom layer of Autumn Spice, Early Espresso on the Old Olive piece and More Mustard around the top layer of the medallion ... and there you go!

This is another Fall card created using the Day of Gratitude set.. Love it!! We used the Scallop hand punch and the NEW Sizzix Die called Scallop Squares Duo getting that nice scallop layer effect! You'll use More Mustard as the card base, a piece of Early Espresso as the base layer adding a layer of Cajun Craze which you run through the Bis shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder.. I just love this folder and the dimension you get! To create the scallop squares you'll need Old Olive and More Mustard cardstock using the hand scallop punch and then the Autumn Spice designer paper with the Sizzix Die Scallop Squares Duo (found in the Holiday Mini). The card was finished off with a piece of Early Espresso Satin ribbon tied off in a knot.

With this card you will need a base layer of Old Olive cardstock and the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.. run it through the Big Shot to get that nice dimension, wrap a piece of Early Espresso satin ribbon around the card front and tie off in a knot .. for the Medallion you will need a piece of Early Espresso and Cajun Craze (running the cajun craze through the big shot with the square lattice embossing folder).. grab your scallop hand punch and punch 4 squares out of the Autumn Spice designer paper, layer and adhere them onto the Cajun Craze.. stamp the sentiment from the Day of Gratitude set onto a piece of More Mustard cardstock and then punch it out using the NEW Decorative Label punch found in the Mini...sponge around it with More Mustard and layer it with stampin' dimensionals then place stampin dimensionals on the back of the Medallion, place that over the ribbon and your done!

The above photo shows you that you CAN use what you have on hand.. I am waiting on my order and did not have the Early Espresso satin ribbon, nor did I have the Decorative Label punch so I used what I had and I think they came out just as nice! The center one was done at my UL Nancy's house and the ones on the right and left were what I did when I got home using Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon and a spellbinders die which I thought was pretty close to the original punch design..sooo grab what you have and give it a try!

<---- I recently saw this card over at Unity Stamp Company .. I love how they used a cute little owl in the sentiment and thought it would be fun to recreate!

Sooooo ... I got out my Season of Friendship set and my Owl punch and set out to make a card! My parents brought me to two out of the three Dr appts. for those horrible epidural shots.. my BFF Sue Culotti (waving Hi to Sue) brought me to the first one and boy oh boy let me tell you the wait was soooooooooo looooooong.. my father said how can a waiting room fill up and empty 3 times and your still sitting here? I am really appreciative to Sue and my parents for being there for me, taking me to these appts and being patient through the hurry up and wait process! I don't know what I would do without each of them!!

Here is the card that I created ... everything used is Stampin Up except for the Sizzix alphabet set called Script which I then sponged with cajun craze. I used a card base of more mustard and then the Square Lattice embossing folder for the old olive base layer. The ink colors used are early espresso, cajun craze, old olive and more mustard for the tree and leaves which I then cut out. Isn't the Owl just the cutest ever! ... he's one of the newest punches that Stampin Up now sells called the Two Step Owl Ex Lg punch. I used Garden Gala designer series paper for his chest and real red card stock for the heart! I had a little problem getting the arrow (punched from the retired My Way punch) to show up on the tree and finally went around it with my basic black journaling pen. I finished the card off with the Gold Glow and Log Cabin Smooch Spritz! If you click on the picture you'll see how sparkly it is!!

Some cards to share with you...

I wanted to share with you some of the cards that I have been making at my SU Group Meetings.. all supplies are SU. I hope that you enjoy them and maybe even create a few for yourself! This first card was made using the set Countryside.. layered using the designer paper Newsprint, crinkling it up and using the direct to paper technuque and the watercolor technique to the main image.. the edges were all distressed and an antique brad finishes it off! What a great manly card!

This next card was created with the Just Believe set , the embosslit die called Beautiful wings, the Scallop Edge punch and the Modern Label punch. We also used the NEW stitched poly ribbon called Peach Parfait.. isn't it gorgeous! The cardstock used was Whisper White and the extra piece at the bottom is a piece of the new In Color Peach Parfait, the ink was also Peach Parfait.

This next card has a base of Crumb Cake embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder and we used the Top Note Bigz Die with a piece of whisper white and the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The flower was stamped from the set Printed Petals and cut out... the ribbon used is our 1 1/4" striped grosprain in Marina Mist and just folded over and pinched together.. we did use brads to hold them in place. We then used the modern label punch for the sentiment and finished it off with a button and ribbon for the flower center.

This next card was really easy to create! It also uses a piece of crumb cake as it's base and then scraps of paper run through the big shot with the square lattice embossing folder and punched out with the circle punch. They were placed over a piece of Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon and finished off with a sentiment layered onto a scallop square punch!

This last card was created with a number of items from the NEW Holiday Mini ... the snowman from the Jolly Old St. Nick, the sentiment from the set Bright Christmas and the Candy Cane Christmas Fabric!! We used markers to color the snowman in and some 2 way glue and dazzling diamonds for the snow!! The fabric was cut using the Big Shot and the NEW Sizzix Bigz Die called Tasteful Trim <--- a definite must have (also in the Holiday Mini)!! A strip of cardstock was embossed with the perfect polka dots folder and layered over the fabric and lastly a button with tinsel trim (also from the Holiday Mini) was layered over the image!

Sharing a lovely card!

Two weeks ago I had posted "ever have one of those days" .. I had just gone in for the second set of epidural injections and well, sometimes it's pretty uncomfortable, sometimes it's quite painful.. but this particular set was extremely painful for me and I spent many days following it laying down with my trusty ice pack.

Well, last Friday I received this lovely card from a friend and follower of my blog Michelle VanWiggeren... waving hi to Michelle! Thanks so much you really made my day brighter! I wish that I could have shared it sooner but the weekend was a blur .. pain levels were high and now finally settling down to a tolerable level.

This Friday I will be going in for the third and final set of shots and I am hoping for a better outcome than the last two sets had delivered. I can only hope that it goes well and they get the medicine in the right area to resolve the nerve issues .. it has been a long road these past 8 years and I have been told by my Dr's to learn to live with the pain which I have tried my best to do.. it's hard sometimes but I know that there are people dealing with much more.. soooooo .... fingers crossed!

It has been very busy around here!

It has been a whirlwind here.. we have Celebrated a 1 year Anniversary, a Wedding and a Birthday (over the holiday weekend) today is our Granddaughter's 9th Birthday! Pheeew! There was an album created for the Anniversary and cards of course were made for everyone.. I haven't purchased a card in years!

We had a Birthday Party/Cookout for our Granddaughter on Labor Day and today I will be going to see the kids after school to wish Hailey a Happy Birthday and give her another present.. this one she asked for special.. she wanted an alarm clock, the kind that has bells at the top and I found one at Target (thanks Sue for reminding me to go there)! I think she's going to love it ... it's silver with a pink (think SU's Melon Mambo) clock face which is great since her bedroom is going to get a makeover with pink as the main color! OK.. that's it for now.. hopefully I'll get a chance to work on some Fall cards and will post them here once they're done!

Ever have one of those days!

Well today is that day for me... for those of you that don't know my plight I have a bad back, have had 2 back surgeries.. the first was a fusion where they added hardware and fused the discs together and the second surgery was to take the hardware out because the screws had come loose and were causing major problems pressing on my nerves and muscles... (I KNOW RIGHT!).. it was very, very painful. I still have horrible nerve problems so today I headed out for my second set of epidural shots from a series of 3. The shots are extremely painful but can be very helpful if they work.. and my Dr is like the BEST, she has a wonderful bedside manner so to speak, you can tell she really cares about you and that you are not just a number in her daily routine.. and that does help too. ... but to top it all of I also had a migraine headache and couldn't take the ES Excedrin Migraine that always takes that pain away and I also could not take my Motrin for 5 whole days because it could cause me to bleed out so there's that! OMG you know when the Dr's ask .. "so does the medication work" .. here's what I've found out.. don't take it for a week and you will definitely know the answer to that! I couldn't wait to get this shot over with and as soon as I did I asked for a cup of water! Anyway, this is a picture of Sashakitty that we had taken some time ago and it speaks volumes as to how I feel today and I just wanted to share it with you!

Close as a Memory...

Today I watched a video by a gal named Renee who's blog is stamping for sanity.. go check her out she's got some really great inspiration! Her video was on how to create the ribbon treatment that she calls accordionized.. I was intrigued! I needed to make a Sympathy card for a friend who had just lost her daughter so I set out to picking colors and stamps.. I had just purchased the Close as a Memory set through Stampin' Up because it was retiring, it had been on my have to have list for some time now.. so this was the time to get it before it was gonegonegone! I used the NEW basic pearls from Stampin' Up, soft suede..very vanilla and early espresso cardstock that I punched using an EK Success edge punch, brocade backgroud dsp, soft suede polka dot gg ribbon and garden green/dusty durango/crushed curry markers for the main image which I then misted with water for a watercolor look. It came together rather quickly for me and I like cards like that.. I hope you like it too!

For my Daughter...

My daughter is under the weather and I thought maybe a card would make her smile so I made this Special for her! I had seen a card done by Jennifer McGuire and thought it would be a nice pick me up for Lindsey so that's the one I chose!

I used Stampin' Ups DSP called Rockabilly which is wonderful because it has embossed papers and the colors are FAB-ulous! The sentiment is from a brand new Stampin' Up stamp set called Just Believe! I am not really a white space girl but I really love how this turned out! Jen had only dry embossed the right edge with those 3 lines but I went all the way around the card (actually I did it on a seperate piece to make sure I liked it and I did!). It was a rerally simple card to put together once the sides were scored I used a circle punch and layed them out till I was happy with placement and then used stampin' dimensionals to raise them from the page. The sentiment was stamped and then punched with the modern label punch and popped up as well and then gemstones were added to make the tag pop! Easy peasy and I know she will love it and it will make her smile! I hope you like it too!

Happy Birthday MaryAnne!

I made this card for our 10 year old Niece MaryAnne.. the set that I used is not a Stampin' Up set but a set called Blips and Beeps and is all robots and nuts and bolts... so cute! The stamp set came with a whole sheet of rub ons and gemstones which made it very fun! My husband said that it doesn't look like a card for a 10 year old girl but I think she'll love it! There are pearls and gemstones on the front as well as the inside and you can't tell by the nuts and bolts were versa marked onto the pink card stock. I think if I had added ribbon to the center robot that would have made my husband very happy but I think it's cute as is so that's the way it was mailed!

A Bookmark for Mom!

My Mom loves to read and I made her a bookmark some years back which after many turned pages was finally laid to rest! Well, my Mom asked me if I could make her another bookmark and since her Birthday was coming up I thought it would be a nice time to make her a special one! This one is quite a bit bigger than the last one which was only a tag.. and I love that this one is for the corner of the page!

The tutorial for this bookmark can be found at Split Coast Stampers and was created by Beate Johns.. love her!!

I used Stampin Up's NEW stamp set Friends Never Fade and paired it up with the new Greenhouse Gala DSP and the Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon! YUM! I used the SU Scallop punch and a MS punch for the bottom edge.. I sewed just to be sure it stays together since it will be a very loved bookmark! I gave it to my Mom and she loved it! Isn't it so Exciting to see the expressions on people's faces when you make them something handmade and share it with them?! It's the best feeling E-ver!

Isn't Love Grand!

Recently friends of ours Celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary and the card I made for them is the happily ever after! I think it's awesome that they have been together for such a long time because in todays society I think people tend to give up too easily on their relationships.. so it's nice when you can Celebrate one with such longevity! Another friend of mine from FaceBook (waving Hi to Stacey!!) recently held a Wedding Celebration .. she and her husband never really had the Wedding of their dreams so they held one this past month... 11 years later!! I'm so happy for you Stacey Congratulations!! The card I made for her has the Mr & Mrs on it.

Well, I hope you like these cards ... keep coming back to see what I post... I think I have finally found my mojo! I've got a card in the works for my Mom's birthday this week and lots of other projects brewing!

A card for Betty!

This is a card that I made for a very dear friend of mine.. she's 87 years old and lives on her own and poor thing went to reach for a pan in a lower cupboard and pulled the cartilage in her chest.. can you say owieowieowie! I did the same thing when I was 29 years old by lifting a box of copy paper so I know how painful it is.. but she waited 10 days to tell someone! She didn't want to put anyone out but finally called her daughter 10 days later.. she told her that she just couldn't breathe in hard so she thought she would be ok! So, this card is to help cheer her up!!

I know it's been awhile since my last post and that is because since having surgery in May I lost my Mojo .. and I mean gone gone gone! Couldn't find it anywhere!! I have so much fun stuff to play with too .. my BFF Sue Culotti can attest to that but I would look in my room and walk right back out! Well, I've been waiting for 2 months to enjoy crafting again and slowly it is coming back. This card was a case from the NEW Idea Book and Catalog --> page 200.. I changed it up some because I don't have the Owl punch yet.. (but I will soon!) I had meant to wheel across the cs under the sentiment layer but forgot to do it before placement ... I still like how it turned out though!

ps.. before I sent this card out I added a butterfly to the front of the card using a MS punch and some DSP called Greenhouse Garden from Stampin' Up and it was a nice addition of color..so I thought I would post a picture of it!

Scraps can be fun!

Here's a card that I created with scraps leftover from other projects .. the background piece was a remnant of my random stamping to create homemade background paper.. I did add some smooch spritz in silver to it though and the sentiment was an extra I had from the same project.. the scallop edge was an extra scrap from when I created the easter egg milk cartons and the lovely choc chip punched bird was an extra that I had after creating another card that I have not yet shared because it's for a Techniques Class to be held during May with my friend Cindy Grantham! The pink birdie dangling is one that I received in the cutest little container as part of my Birthday present from my BFF Sue Culotti and the ribbon was something that I had cut to use on a different project and it didn't really work so I held on to it for just this reason.. I knew it would find it's way to another project of mine! This card will be sent out to my husbands Ex MIL Betty who is one of my biggest fans! She loves getting cards from me so I like to oblige her every chance I get!

Little Boy on Swing!

Today I found the cutest stamp set and just had to put ink to it! I really like how my card turned out don't you?! I started out by using Black Stazon and then decided to do some paper piecing on the little guys clothes. I used the retired paper pack called Maine Blueberry for his overalls and a scrap of blue CS for his shirt.. I used Old Olive for the base, Ivory and Bashful blue for the main image as well as Night of Navy CS with my Scallop Trim punch and Night of Navy ink/sponged onto the edge of the main image. For color I used my Bic Markits for the tree, leaves, rope, shoes and for his skin I used my Prismacolor marker. The sentiment is stamped in Night of Navy..

More cards for the SweetPea Extravaganza!

Here's another card I created for the SweetPea Extravaganza.. the challenge was to create our own DSP. I used the Elements of Style and the Dot Dot Dot stamp..you can click on the picture to see a close up. I used the dot dot dot stamp again on copy paper and punched several using the Extra Large Fancy Flower punch from the Occasions Mini and added the Kraft aka "Crumb Cake" corduroy button in the center of the flower! I used the 1 3/8" circle punch and the designer label punch for the sentiment~and layered them over a piece of river rock dbl stitched ribbon knoted on the right side. Hope you like it!

This next card was another challenge we were given in the Sweetpea Online Extravaganza.. we were asked to create a spring type feel card. Nothing says Spring to me more than flowers awakening and I wanted to make my own flower ... so, I created a nice grunge type flower using the Extra large fancy flower punch again giving it loads of petals unfolding.. I used the stamp set Spring Song and added the flower over one of the trumpet fowers.. I used the spiral punch along the left side and added some gold string crisscrossed with a flower center punched from a scrap piece of Sweet Pea paper pack ( found in the Occasions Mini ) using the trio flower punch. The yellow dotted DSP background paper is also from the Sweet Pea paper pack! The sentiment was stamped and then punched out with the wide oval punch and layered onto a piece of old olive and then cut out for a nice border... Here is another card that I made in class... it was made using the SU set Garden from the Heart,the Sweet Pea DSP (available in the Occasions Mini), Dusty Durango Polka Dot Ribbon and CS and the sentiment is from Vintage Labels which was a Sale-a-Bration set .. We are given a card to create and we can follow it or let the inspiration guide us but I thought this was so pretty that I didn't want to change anything about it! First of all this is a Gate Fold card which I love...and second I love the colors and image used! SweetPea Online Extravaganza

This is the third card that I've created so far.. I meant to add it in my earlier post but forgot to attach it!
This card was created using the SweetPea DSP, taken w/teal CS, pretty in pink satin ribbon and sweetpea felt embellishments.. the stamp set used was trendy trees and the inks used were pretty in pink, chocolate chip, old olive and taken w/teal. I roughed up the edges a bit on both pieces of the taken w/teal papers and used the new Smooch Spritz in log cabin to give it that hint of shimmer! You can click on the picture to see it better! SweetPea Online Extravaganza!!

I was recently invited to participate in an online class called the SweetPea Online Extravaganza and wanted to share some cards that I've made today! The gal who is hosting this online class is Cindy Grantham.. she lives in Nova Scotia, CA. ... I met her through some other online classes that we took from a fellow Canadian Andrea Walford and her sister Sophia Landry! We had so much fun when we took those classes and I was happy to see Cindy creating her own online class! I hope you stop back all week to see what other lovely creations I post for you!! What I am enjoying about this class is the many different types of cards that we are creating as well as the friendships that are forming! There are women from Canada as well as the US and it's fun to get to meet new people!

I will be making 30 cards in 5 days and I'm so excited! Yesterday I was not able to check out the site or create because of a Dr appt but today I got right to it and created 3 cards so far.. I've got 9 more cards to create for yesterday and today but the site will have them available for 30 days so "it's all good" !! This is the card that I made for my brother Richard... shhhhh it's not for a few days yet! The card sketch challenge that I followed was from the Stampin' Connection site under week 11 and the tag is as follows SCCSC11 ... for those of you that are Stampin Up Demonstrators you should go check out the other cards in the gallery.. there are some very lovely cards made with this 3 panel sketch!
My card is made using all SU products except for the acetate which I used to give a reflection of the tree line.. the papers are from the new 12x12 Sweet Pea Paper Pack, the stamp sets are Lovely as a Tree and A Little Birthday Cheer, the ink is black staz-on, the ribbon is white organza and lastly I used my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig for image placement and my SU heat tool! I hope you like it!

Easter Milk Carton's

These are the milk cartons that I made for the Easter dinner table. I will be putting jelly beans in them! I made 8 (2 of each color) and will be putting them in front of every other plate and yes that means that there will be at least 16 people at the table for dinner! I didn't think the men would care if they got one of these so I just made them for the women and my two grandkids.. Oh, and we are going to be having an Easter Egg Hunt in the yard so I will have to post pictures of that Monday morning! I just love the Holidays don't you?!

My first attempt at an Easel Card!

This is my very first Easel card and I love how it turned out.. My Inspiration was Dawn Griffith, she made hers with hearts but I needed to make it more of an Easter feel so I used the Extra Large 2-Step Bird punch from SU's Occasions Mini! I really thought it was going to be harder to make than it was and was pleasantly surprised so I can see myself making many more of these! The reason I needed to make it was because I was a card short.. I thought I was done making Easter cards and then thought about my husband's Ex MIL who is 89 well she just loves getting cards from me! She has told me that when she gets one she pulls out her box of cards and lays them all out on her bed to look at to see which one she loves the most and she said she can never decide because they are all so pretty .. how sweet is she?!! We just love her to pieces and I couldn't let a Holiday go by without sending her a card! Thank goodness I remembered!~

Easter Cards for my Family!

This is the Easter card that I made for my Daughter and SIL .. I was recently in a swap for the Syracuse Regionals that never came to be! Out of all of the lovely card fronts I received these are two that I really loved so I decided to case them..!! Whenever I case someone I do try to put a little spin on the card so for this first card I changed the so saffron BG stamp using my Posy BG stamp instead of Baroque Motifs set that was used .. I really do love the look! I hope you do too! I would show the inside of this card but I signed it before I thought about taking a picture!

This second card is the one I decided to make for my Grand kids! It really is such a fun card.. I just lovelovelove the Eggcoutrements set paired with the Season of Friendship! I think the kids will really love the bunnies in the tree!

I didn't take a picture of my third card for the family and I made 8 of them!! ... and on the silly side when I got to my parents house today their card was being proudly displayed and when I picked it up I realized that I had not even addressed the inside... and I was sure that I had done them all while my friend Sue was over for a visit! All I can say is Thank Goodness they had a good laugh over it, my Mom said.. we knew it was from you honey, I mean who else do we know that sends us homemade cards!! That was a first for me so I grabbed their pen and addressed it and then apologized like 5 times!!

Sacha Kitty!

This is a picture of Sacha Kitty that I thought was just too cute not to share! My husband decided to put the new blinds up in our bedroom and this is what he found when he turned around. One would think that a cat would search for something soft to sleep on but not our kitty.. I think she just wanted to be where the action was and maybe she got a little bit tired watching him work and decided that she needed a nap and it just happened to be on a piece of hard plastic! This is not the strangest place she has decided to sleep either I think it's amazing the positions she can sleep in.. another time she was half on my lap with both paws resting on the computer desk purring away.. awwww!

The Birthday boy and his card!

This is my Grandson Brandon with his GiGi (my Mom) on his 6th Birthday! My parents, daughter and I met at McDonald's because he loves their McNuggets, his favorite food and of course the playroom.. where he made 3 friends!

We are having his Birthday party this weekend but I wanted to give him something today since it is his "special day" so I brought him a Sponge Bob towel.. he looooves Sponge Bob! I also wanted to share the card that I made for him... of course it is a.. yep you guess it .. a Sponge Bob card!!

This is the inside of the card.. I added a krabby pattie to the card because that is Spong Bob's favorite food! Brandon loved it!

I just wanted to share a card that I made this morning for St. Patty's day .. I will probably send this to my daughter's family.. sorry for the spoiler if your viewing this honey!

I don't usually make cards for St. Patrick's day but the other day I found these cute $1 stamps and well when I saw them this was the idea that I had .. it was so great to finally make the card today!! I'm loving the $1 stamps that are out there and have really enjoyed playing with them instead of buying them because they're cute and then putting them away without using them! I told myself that if I am going to buy them I have to use them before they get put away and it seems to be working... knock on wood..

HERD it's your Birthday!

Well, I am finally feeling better and I found a little mojo today! This card is for our nephew who is turning 6.. He loveloveLOVES horses so I purchased a Charlie Horse set so that I could make his cards special! I had actually stamped 6 horses but when I added the sun it covered over two of them.. nuts.. oh well! Now the sun was made using the Extra Large Bird punch from Stampin' Up! I punched 13 of the wings and just tucked them under the hand cut part for the sun. I got the idea looking at the Daisies! ... the saying well, that was a thought I had for a challenge card a few weeks ago although I was going to use cows... but then I got sick so I never did make the card.. this was pretty much what I had in mind though! It feels good to actually be ahead of the game, even though his Bday isn't till the 19th I pressed myself to get it done but our plans fell through to see him tomorrow so off it goes in the mail! I sure hope he likes it!

It was brought to my attention that I had not shared the VD cards that I made for my darling grandchildren and our young niece and her two little brothers... so without further ado here they are in no particular order.. they were made using some fun little $1 stamps that I found at a LSS.. The kids really loved them and called to tell us how cute they were!

It's so much fun to create cards for the little ones! When our grandkids were younger and they received a "Nana" card they would carry it around the house till the corners were all bent up and sometimes missing parts and pieces!

My daughter would call and tell me that the kids even took their cards to bed with them.. isn't that a hoot! Needless to say I lovelovelove to make cards for the little ones! Our Sister in Law has saved in an album every card that I have ever made for their family... warms my heart!

When the kids come to visit we go into my craft room where there is a place for their supplies so that they can just grab their things and create to their hearts contentThey have their own papers, markers, ink pads, and stamps and I let them choose some of my embellishments like ribbon, buttons and brads etc.. even my little grandson who is 5 enjoys crafting with us! It warms my heart that they love to come play at Nana's house ... can you say Priceless!

.. and I have to say my granddaughter Hailey (she's 8) is getting really artistic with her supplies.. she always makes cards for her Mommy and her best friend Gianna!

I bought her some special stamps at Christmas and she chose to leave them here so they won't get lost and this past visit she broke them out and in the process found my chipboard flower book and said Nana, would you mind if I used some paint I have an idea but it has to be with paint.. what do you think I said? .. of course you can honey and she spent the entire afternoon painting, mixing paints to create just the right colors ... creating flowers for her Mom and her Teachers! She's somethin' that little girl, and I am not to proud to brag!

I hope that you have enjoyed viewing their Valentine's Day cards and once I'm feeling better I will post the swap cards that I made for the Stampin' Up Syracuse Regionals ... even though due to a snow storm it was cancelled!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today is Valentine's Day and I have a few cards to show you and I have to tell you a story.. I had been blurfing and found what I thought was the most Beautiful and Perfect card for me to make and give to my husband for Valentine's Day! I printed it off .. closed out the internet links and my email program and off I went to gather my items to create this beauty! It came out even better than I thought it would.. lots of fussy cutting though and then I started to think about the inside.. it couldn't just be plain I had to bring the outside in so to speak so I stamped 4 more floral images and yep, more fussy cutting.. these were placed just to the sides of my sentiment on the inside with a ruby red heart in between them and I surprised myself.. I liked it.. it looked really nice!

So, now my card is complete, it's done and it's not even Valentine's Day yet Yippee! ... so now I'm ready to post it to my blog when... Oh No I didn't write down who's lovely card I was casing! Don't you hate that?!!

Fast forward to Valentine's Day and we are exchanging cards... we both looked at each other and couldn't believe it.. both of our cards were so similar .. well, here let me show you and you let me know what you think! You can click on the pictures to see them larger
*Both cards have 2 main heart images, there are hearts floating about on both and even the inside sentiments were similar!

Now, here's the Irony of the whole situation... later in the morning I went online to the Stampin' Connection which is a place SU created for all SU Demonstrators to post and share.. I clicked on this one gals card which I looooved by the way and she listed her blog site so I went to her blog and guess what... are you sitting down!! ... of all of the hundreds of gals on this site I see a card that I like and decide to go view more of her items... I go to this blog and isn't she the one who created the lovely Valentine card!! OMGosh... it was fate that I found her I just know it! She is one uber talented lady and now I can give her proper credit for the FAB-ulous card that I cased for my Husband .. her name is Christina Kaplan ! Originally when I got to her site I checked out the first page and liked what I saw but it wasn't until I went to the next page of her blog that my jaw dropped.. there it was.. OMG! What if I had not clicked on "next"?.. well I never would have put two and two together so like I said.. it was meant to be that I found you Christina! .. and she is now following my blog which just tickled me to pieces! I hope that you can take some time to go check out Christina's blog, you'll be so glad you did!

Valentine treat holders!

These are a few treat holders that I made for Valentine's Day for my daughter and grandkids! I made the hang tag for Brandon, he's 5.. I will add a candy bar, conversation hearts and maybe a sucker or 3..

I found a pattern for the the Lovely Labels box online and knew it would be perfect for my daughter to hold her favorite treat-DOVE chocolates! I didn't have them on hand when I made this so I hope they fit!

... and the third box is one that I showed a little earlier in my posts (just scroll down some), it's a lovely heart that I created over at Sunny Stampin Studio with Andrea Walford in a Valentine Class she held in January. This is for my granddaughter Hailey, she's 8.. and I will probably fill it with the same goodies as Brandon's tag holder. I try every year to do something a little different for them and I think maybe this year will be a hit! Of course being sick has put me soooo far behind, I didn't get done everything I needed to but I'm not going to stress over it.. there's always next year right?!!

The CS is from my SU stash a few large pieces and some scraps (gotta' love using those scraps!) I used an old Valentine stamp set "A Happy Heart" and last years Valentine DSP Candy Lane and this years new Sale-a-Bration DSP Sending Love! Also from the Sale-a-Bration Mini I used the NEW Heart Embosslit die (LOVE IT!) with the Full Heart Punch.. and the only thing not SU was the button, the hang tag and the labels one dies!

THIS is what 50 Valentine Goody bags looks like...

Pheeeew, I finally completed the Valentine Candy goodie bags for my Grandkids! My Son in Law Nick actually picked them up yesterday and my daughter said that the kids loved them and can't wait to take them in to school! I made 25 for each of their classes. I really wanted to use the curling ribbon (I just love curling ribbon don't you!?!) on all 50 but had originally used tape to close the bags.. I got it off all but 20 so those 20 kept the original closure and I then added a pink embosslit heart over the tape with the same modern label punch tag saying HVD and from: with their names on it! Now I just need to finish my Valentine cards.. it's hard being sick and having deadlines isn't it.. but, I will post the pictures of my grandkids Valentine cards when they are finished.

I wanted to share a TY card that I made for my BFF Sue Culotti .. she gave me a set of acrylic stamps for Christmas called "Funny Farm" the cow image is in the set but the sentiment wasn't it was computer generated... I thought it was a cute idea though! I used faux flower soft (say that fast 3 times!) that I made myself on the white areas of the cow, all you do is rub two styrofoam balls together and the shavings are what you add to your project with a good adhesive, I used my Tombow liquid! I could have done the black areas of the cow with flower soft too just by using my black reinker to color the shavings. I learned this technique on a place called Split Coast Stampers a wealth of information, creativity and inspiration can be found here ladies.. great artwork galleries, techniques, items for sale and just a fun place you can go to chat with ladies who share a passion for crafting.. but I must warn you it's addictive and you can end up there for hours at a time!

OK, so then I put the image through my Big Shot with the nestie labels 1 die and it smooshed the flower soft but I really like how it turned out.. don'tcha just love it when you make a mistake but it takes your project to the next level! I know I sure do! The card base, mats and ribbon used is Bermuda Bay from SU's In Colors and I also sponged all of the edges with it too - isn't it yummy!

If you click on the picture you can get a better idea of what the flower soft looks like! It's a really fun technique and I hope you give it a try! I'll be adding reinker to it next time and maybe use it on a cute little bee! If you do try it post a comment here with your blog link so that I can come take a look!

I'm 1/2 way there!!

In a previous post I mentioned that my 8

year old granddaughter had asked me to make her the peppermint patty goodie bags I had made for her class one year .. they were a big hit with her friends! So I went to Sam's Club and bought a big box of peppermint patties.. because... this is my first year making for both of my grandchildren!

Well, today I set out to get them started.. I needed to make 25 for her class and teachers and 25 for my 5 year old grandson's kindergarten class as well! I really didn't want to use all of my gg ribbon for the closure since the kids just rip them open and trash the packaging anyway so I was trying to figure out what else to do .. right now I have the top of the bag folded over and taped to the backside and I used the embosslits heart die with pretty in pink and placed that over the tape. I figure I'll punch white hearts with the full heart punch and I'll write from: and the kids can sign their names , then I'll tape it onto the pink heart..

Anyway, I have 25 completed and need to put together 25 more.. but, everything is punched and all I really need to do is stamp the raccoon image and color them in.. then assemble them all which should go quick!

This isn't all Stampin' Up... shhhhhhh!!

I had this really old tin on the shelf in my craft closet.. you probably have one too.. it was a christmas tin very faded and no longer as pretty as I thought it was when I originally 'had to have' it... and I was in an altering state so I grabbed my paper but I cannot mention it's name because as a SU Demonstrator we are not supposed to share any names on our blogs if they are not SU! In this particular paper packet I just love every sheet.. I've been hording it but have decided as a New Years Resolution that I would make every attempt to use all of my lovely papers of which I have many.. my BFF Sue Culotti can vouch for me.. trust me we are both paper horders! I cut the butterflies from the sheet and believe it or not the small flowers fit into the trio punch, way cool so I didn't have to cut 'everything' .. I did use my SU chocolate chip twill ribbon, crystal effects, shimmer pain and trio punch but everything else will have to remain a secret! shhhhhh!

This card is one that I spotted in blogger land and knew it would round out my creations for this Valentine's day, it was done by the very creative Ilina Crouse! I have a large project that I am working on for both of my grandchildren to take into school and I didn't really have the time to create my own card ideas ... I shamelessly cased a few gals this go round didn't I?!

All of the supplies used on this card are Stampin' Up .. I used the new Sending Love DSP, the new I {Heart} Hearts set and the love you much sentiment came from the new Well Scripted set. Trio of Hearts!

I was over visiting Gina K ... "a day in the life" ... and spotted a fun little "love" card.. I had just received the new SU Sending Love DSP and thought how pretty they would look together, the dsp and the sketch! I used Rose Red for the base and layer under the DSP and Whisper White for the second layer and the scalloped hearts! I used my full heart punch (pg 187 of the main catalog) for the middle hearts top layer and the new Heart Embosslits die found on page 15 of the Occasions Mini for only $11.95 for all 3 scalloped hearts!! I used buttons from the soft subtles set and also my new Small Heart punch from the Occasions Mini on pg 15, this little gem is only $5.95 and worth every penny!!

These cards were inspired by a card share done by our SU Leader/Owner Shelli Gardner who created them for Leadership I believe! She did hers in Chocolate Chip, So Saffron and Old Olive but I wanted to make them for Valentine's Day so I used Real Red, Whisper White and Pretty in Pink. For the first one I added scallop borders (like hers) using my scallop scissors (not SU) . I really love the dimension acheived using the dotted background EF , the I {Heart} Hearts and Tiny Tags sets as well as the heart of hearts embosslits die which are all new and available in the Occasions Mini until the end of April! I finished my card by using a pretty in pink brad, a real red flower using my trio flower punch and real red grosgrain ribbon.

The second card was done pretty much the same way except that I used the Scallop Trim Edge punch .. which you can receive for FREE with a $50 order through our Sale-a-Bration going on until the end of March! I also chose to use white organza ribbon instead of the real red grosgrain just to give it a little bit of a different look! Hope you like them!

Vintage Valentine Card! Day3

Here is my Day3 class project that I am lovingly referring to as "Vintage Love Birds" .. Because this is supposed to have that Cassic Vintage look you want it to look old and maybe a little shabby chic.. sooo I got to do one of my favorite things of all which is inking the edges of my project! I love doing this technique and to do it right you almost always get ink on you, but I really don't mind .. hence the name of my blog!

I think it really adds some wonderful dimension when you add ink to the edges of your projects don't you?! I ended up using the "Candy Lane" DSP.. these large birdies are actually on one of the sheets so I only needed to paper piece them.. I used the Scalloped edge punch (which is one of the FREE items in the Sale-a-Bration Mini Catalog) .. the large red heart (small Red Heart punch) and the floral leaf stems (Extra Large 2 step bird punch) are from the New Occasions Mini Catalog pg 11. The smaller red/pink hearts came from an old punch (not SU). The flowers and half back pearl were from the Pretties Kit and the ribbon well, you can still get the White Organza but the Riding Hood Red Taffeta is no longer available. Hope you like it!

Valentine Heart Box! Day2

I wanted to share my project with you from the Sunny Stampin' Classroom with Andrea Walford and her sister Sophia Landry... This is the Day2 Project called "Wide and Narrow Heart Shaped Box" We were given templates to creat both a wide and a narrow box and you can't tell from the angle of my photo but I chose the narrow box. I still plan on creating the wide box and maybe a few more narrow ones, not till next week though.. there's still time!

While I was creating this box I had a phone call and applied the sticky stip to the flaps while I was chatting ... I hung up pulled the red tape up and glued the two pieces together and then my heart sunk.. I forgot to use the embossing folder on the front! Oh well, thank goodness for versa mark!

This came together pretty quickly and I'm happy with the results but.. BUT I will make more and I WILL use either an embossing folder or DSP! I won't make the same mistake twice that's for sure!! I can't wait to get my real red and pretty in pink corduroy buttons and epoxy brads .. think I use those for a nice pop of color!

Love Bandit Tin with Journaling notes! Day1

This is an online class project (through Andrea Walford) that I spent the afternoon working on for my husband and it's one of his Valentine's Day gifts! We used a band-aid tin, some fun paper, ribbon and a neat cloud template as well as the new Love Bandit set from Stampin' Up! .. we then created 10 journaling tags to write down Inspirational things.. reasons why I love my husband and lastly I created a computer generated sentiment for my tag and keeping with the hearts theme I decided to use jump rings to add a little fun to the tag!

I'm hoping it will work for the 52 card pickup challenge this week over on Sue Culotti's blog.. My BFF Sue Culotti has created a new Blog and named it 52 card pickup and every Sunday she will be posting an Inspirational piece, something uplifting and motivational and we are then to create an art piece .. it can be an ATC, card front, 3d piece whatever we decide to do. I am going to create them all as ATC's each time because I will be binding them at the end of the 52 weeks to create a book of my own personal inspiration.

I am wishing very big this year that my life will get back on track.. I am staying positive and focused and I know good things will follow!

I just wanted to take a moment and wish everyone that visits my blog a Healthy and Prosperous New Year! I see good things ahead for me and I wish the same for all of you! Thank you all for taking the time to stop by and check out what I'm doing.. for leaving such warm comments for me and for the friendships we have created, I feel truly Blessed!

I wanted to share something with you that I created this evening... I was working on a couple of Valentine's Day cards and needed to add a sentiment so I grabbed my word window punch, stamped a sentiment on a piece of cs and the punched it out.. well, it was too big so I put just the end of the punched piece back into the word window from the top and punched again.. perfect! .. but look at the piece that came out of the punch.. it looked like a ballet slipper on point! Too cute! ... so I set the cards aside and started to create a ballerina which ended up becoming a little bay girl ... I was tickled pink so I ran to show my husband LOOK I said, what do you think? ... his response? "It looks like Cartman" he said with a laugh.. now, does anyone watch Southpark?? Well, Cartman is a lovable loudmouth character on the show.. and I have to say she really does look like him .. too funny! I used the ornament punch, oval punch, word window and the boho blossom.. I acordion folded the oval for a ruffled tutu and folded it over just at the top of the oval and the rest you can probably figure out! She still needs to be inked and all but she is kinda cute! Ok, back to my cards, just wanted to share some silliness with you!

Another Birthday card.. this one's for Dad!

OMGoodness! ... talk about waiting till the last possible minute ... today is my FIL's 79th Bday and I should have had his card made last week! I at least like to have a card made a few days in advance of mailing or giving anyway... It's a really good thing we always go see him on his Bday because if I had to mail his card then it would be late! ... and I would have to carry my tail between my legs, I mean come on this is what I do, I make cards!

I saw the idea for this on a blog and I didn't write down the name but I think it may be one of my followers! I'm sorry I can't give you proper credit... but your idea was just too cute because I love snowmen! If this looks familiar to you lmk and I'll add your name/blog to this post!! Ü

I got this stamp from Rubbernecker (lovelovelove their stamps) .. they are UM stamps and they give such a great impression! This stamp is called "Mr. Stix" and was only $5.95!! What a steal!

When the card was finished (or so I thought) I looked it over and decided it needed something else, but what? ... ahhhhh, I know.... I grabbed my two way glue and Dazzling Diamonds from SU and now Mr. Stix has a very lovely scarf and legging set! It was just what he needed I think, you can click on the picture to see it up close!

Since my last few cards were just paper, ink and glitter I think my next card should have some buttons or ribbon or bling of some sort don't you think?!

Lovely as a Tree!

Yesterday was my husband John's Birthday and I wanted to share with you the card that I made for him... I saw a GC holder done by Theresa Momber on her blog Crafting the Web here .. if you scroll down about half way you'll see it .. it's called "In the Woods" ... it was posted on December 25th!

I thought I could recreate it with SU's Lovely as a Tree set! Here's my take on Theresa's card! My husband really loved it and I hope you will too! I added Dazzling Diamonds to the focal image but it's really hard to tell, looks much prettier IRL!

I noticed that Theresa uses those large daubers and I left her a message asking her if they work better than sponges so I cannot wait to get her reply.. I've been thinking about trying them! Has anyone viewing this post ever tried them? Please lmk what you think!

Just an update...

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share with you why I have not been posting ... I had been in terrible pain for some time now and I went in to have back surgery on December 8th. I was able to come home on the 10th--> isn't that Amazing! I've been taking it pretty easy since I got home and I go in tomorrow to have my stitches removed . Every day I feel better, I've had some bad days but the good outnumber them.. and my hope is that my life gets back on track as it's been off track for too long now! This was my second back surgery to remove the screws and plate that were put in 4 years ago and it's a really good thing that I went ahead with it because I was told by the Dr. that the screws came loose and the plate shifted onto my muscle which then grew around the plate.. so he had to cut through the muscle to remove the plate.. sounds awful but when I was able to stand up and walk I thought it nothing short of a miracle that I was able to walk without limping ( goodbye cane!), my leg/knee no longer hurts and my husband says I stand taller! It's a very exciting time for me, the pain oddly enough is not that bad so long as I take the meds every three hours and I feel that keeping a positive outlook and not thinking about the pain has really helped me .. I am looking forward to living life again... a more normal life than I've been able to have in over 7 years!

I hope you don't mind that I shared this with you all, I just wanted everyone to know where I've been and that once I am feeling better I will start posting on a more regular basis..

I'll leave you with a set of cards that I created for some of the children in my family.. the idea was found here and here on SCS in the gallery of nilakias (FAB-ulous artwork!) .. here are mine:

I know the kids are going to love them ... the 2 reindeer punch cards are for the girls, our darling granddaughter Hailey and our neice Mary Anne and 3 of the mice punch cards are for the boys, our grandson Brandon and our nephews Alex and Brett.. the other mice card is for my card file ( I like to make an extra to have on hand to give or keep as a future idea) and yep I will have to make another reindeer card but it was fun to create so I don't mind!

I made these cards for a friend of mine who lost her Dad this past week.. one was made for her and one for her Mom.. I had the idea of what I wanted to do in my head for the red card and actually the bluish card was created earlier this year at least 3 times in different colors but always the same sketch, it's just worked out well as a Sympathy card. The papers are from My Minds Eye and I just love them, they are glittered papers and a very nice weight to work with.

Here's a card that was rolling around in my head and I just had to shake it out! I stayed up till the card was completed and realized that I stamped Season's Greetings on both of them and one was supposed to be a Birthday card!! DOH! Oh well... the Birthday is so close to Christmas that I don't think he will mind it one little bit!
This card was really quick and easy to make and I have since created one with a little bit different papers and I used RHR ink instead of Ch Chip!

A Christmas Rose Bouquet!

On SCS the Mother Mark TeaPot Tuesday Challenge was to create a card based on a Rose, a favorite flower or a country song ... and this is what I came up with.. I made it with my parents in mind. I just wanted to create something a little different and anyone who knows my style might be surprised by ALL the empty space on this card, I know I sure was! I still want to add something .. but less is more right?! I didn't get it finished till today and you can't post on Split Coast Stampers on Sundays unless your part of the Fan Club so I'll post it tomorrow! Peaceful Wishes MMTPT68

I was recently invited to participate in the Mother Mark Tea Pot Tuesday Challenge aka MMTPT .. now, Marilynn was our Hostess and she posted a picture of the lovliest little teapot with Cardinals perched on a holly berry branch. The ribbon I used was to be an extension of the branch in the image and I placed some holly branches behind my pretty cardinal.

This was my very first challenge with MMTPT but I hope to join in many more to come once I recover from my back surgery in December! I hope to view the challenges and maybe create the ideas on paper and put them to cards when I'm back in my craft room .. there should only be a couple so it won't be so overwhelming .. Anniversary card for my Husband!

This is the card that I made for my darling Husband .. we just Celebrated our Second Anniversary! I spotted this layout while I was surfing one night and knew it was "the one".. I may have posted on my SCS site where the Inspiration came from but for the life of me I cannot think of your name.. but if you are looking at this card and this is your design I thank you very much! I changed it up a bit by adding my gel pen around the scallops instead of piercing and also the addition of the flower in place of a heart.. the original card also had another heart in a heart shaped scallop to the right of the flower but I didn't have that scallop die and I'm not really good cutting with decor scissors!! lol!! I have a wonderful friend, Sue Culotti aka Random on Purpose who can create the most amazing things using those scissors! *waving Hi to Sue* I mean it, I don't know how she does it but my cutting is no where near as lovely! So I decided that I would only use the 2 flower scallops... and John (my husband) loved the card.. he said it was really nice which made my day!

Sorry the photographs are not the best but the lighting in my house is terrible.. (right Sue!) I think I need to invest in something I can use when taking pictures.. The card is darling IRL!

Merry Christmas Noah!

This is the card that I created for a little boy named Noah Biorkman who is battling Cancer ... the Dr's don't think he'll make it till Christmas so his parents moved their Christmas up and they Celebrated this past weekend with a visit from Santa Claus and the cards and letters and gifts are still pouring in .. there is a video that you can watch here .. he's just a little 5 year old boy who should have life to look forward to and to hear Noah say that an Angel figurine ornament was his favorite because it reminds him of heaven and that's where he'll be soon just breaks my heart because no child should ever have to think these thoughts. I have a 5 yr old grandson and can't imagine my life without him... My thoughts and prayers go out to Noah and his family, and this card is to bring an added smile to a darling little boy's face.

Whilst Blurfing my favorite blog sites I stopped in at Andrea Walford's site and noticed a video tutorial for Top Note Envelope GC Holders.. FUN!! ... and really super easy to put together. The only thing I still need to do is run them through the Crimper. Now, if you click here it will take you directly to her site and under her November 2nd post Wandering Words Christmas Card (which is also on my list to create btw!) at the end of the post after her signature you will see "You might also like" .. and that is where you click on the Top Note Envelope GC Holder. It will take you directly to her video on how to create these cute and super easy holders! I made all 5 of these in no time flat and I'm stoked because we do give quite a few GC's at Christmas! So, I hope you check out Andrea's site, be prepared to spend allot of time there because she has allot to offer visually ( she is FAB-ulously Talented) but promise me you'll still come back and visit! I'm going to try to work on setting up my video camera and creating my own videos.. we'll see how that goes, maybe once the Christmas Season is behind us! lol!! Falling Leaves

These cards were made with one of my newest stamp set additions called Branch Out! I was so excited to get this set .. it's on the Dormant list, dormant means that it is not in the Catalog and that they could Discontinue the set ... or they could potentially put it back into the Catalog but I didn't want to take a chance and with Fall upon us it was the perfect time to buy it! Now, anyone that knows and loves me knows that I love anything dealing with trees and leaves .. case in point, I just purchased a set called Trees Three that I cannot wait to ink up! ... but back to the card at hand! I looked out the window and saw the most spectacular sight.. the trees in the back lot were vivid shades of orange and yellow and red and I wanted to capture that beauty and about an hour later I heard my Brown Santa (UPS guy) coming up the walk.. know how I knew it was him... my cat started growling! .. seriously, she's so funny, I think she thinks she's a dog.. funny thing is though she growls and runs the other way, then peeks around the corner at him (still growling)! We just stand there and laugh at her! Anyway, he was bringing me my order which had Branch Out in it! I didn't even really think about it I just put it together and gathered papers inks and ribbon and since I already had the vision in my head I just sat down and made them... gotta' love when that happens! I used Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede ink, Kraft, Wh White and Choc Chip CS and DSP, sponged Soft Suede on my Wh White while it was still in the stencil added a sentiment with the stamp set Falling Leaves, added ribbon and Viola'! Easy Peasy!!

Here's a Gate Fold Card!

I made this card for my Dad for his Birthday and he loved it! I am better versed with the GirlyGirl cards and always seem so challenged when it comes to making a Manly card. Now, I have wanted to make a Gate Fold card for some time so when I spotted the tutorial on SCS on how to make this card I was all over it! The video tutorial was done by Beate (rhymes with Miata) Johns **waving Hi to Beate** and let me tell you this gal is U-ber talented so when you get a few minutes go to Split Coast Stampers and check out her Gallery! Now, my Mom is always telling me that I use Brown way to much when I make cards and I tell her that I just can't help it! I love the warm earthy tones and get this... FALL is my FAVorite Season... GASP!

You know though, seriously I really do try to use other colors but I find it oh so hard not to grab my Chocolate Chip CS , and there is now another scrumptious shade called Soft Suede!!

Here are the deets for this card and believe you me I would love to divulge who makes this lovely Designer Paper and the stamp set and sentiment inside the card but since I am a Stampin' Up girl I can't .. rules, rules rules... we can only list what the Stampin' Up products are, so here goes ... the Ribbon is our luxurious Chocolate Chip Satin, the Card Stock or (CS) is Old Olive, Choc Chip and Whisper White, the ink color is Chocolate Chip and the stamp set used was our Bold and Basic Greetings!

My daughter and grandchildren invited me along to help out at their Halloween Parties at school today! Hailey is 8 and in 3rd grade and Brandon is 5 1/2 and in "K" .. I of course had to make some goodies to take along for their classes and wanted to share with you what I created..

We made Halloween cut outs the other day and the kids had so much fun sprinkling.. they start out frosting but my daughter and I end up taking over that task the kids just wanted to do the sprinkling!

The caramel corn was a hit... a tasty treat that I made last night and the kids loved the goody bags.. I was going to buy some but forgot so I decided at the last minute to make some.. they were super easy to make! I found the idea on Dawn Griffith's blog, originally she had made hers for cocoa packets but I improvised and stuffed mine full of dollar store candy and pencils. These goody bags were made from a regular envelope and cut down, scored and folded and then stamped and inked.

The kids had the cutest costumes.. Brandon was "Luigi" from Mario and Luigi! That boy sure loves his video games!! He was absolutely A-dorable and when they held their Parade and his class walked down the center of the halls, the

other classes lined up on the sides and called out .. hey look it's Luigi, Hi Luigi! He was a hit!

Hailey was "Josie" from Josie and the Pussycasts, remember that cartoon? She had a little teeny bit of make up on but the girls in her class told her she couldn't wear it so she went in the bathroom and took it off and cried.. oh, break my heart! The teacher told my daughter that she wasn't going to make her take it off because it was 'in good taste' and she felt so bad that the girls made Hailey think she would get in trouble ... still her costume was very cute!

Isn't this card fun?!! It's called a Wiper Card ... I spotted it over on SCS (Splitcoast Stampers) and I decided it would be a great card to make for my Daughter for her Birthday which is the day after Halloween! I think she's going to love it! It was fun to make, super easy and I will be making many more for family and friends! Since this was my first attempt I tried to stay true to the card posted but can see how you can really change things up to give it your own style!

Some Fall cards to share...

The first card was a little time consuming but totally worth the effort I think.. I spotted it either on SCS or on the blog by tankgrl.. I changed the main image but all the rest was cas'd.. why tamper with perfection right?! I just loved it and knew that the SU set Season of Friendship would be a perfect choice!

The other two cards were made with the same set Season of Friendship using a fall theme and SU's Fall DSP Autumn Traditions! I wanted both of the cards to have a ribbon so I improvised and ran Kraft CS through my Crimper, folded two loops.. then folded another piece around the middle leaving a little extra for the end and cut a "V" and viola'!!

Halloween is right around the corner!

First of all this was my Inspiration piece! We created this card at our SU Mtg and I couldn't wait to get home and use what I had to create some more of this FAB-ulous technique ... I call it "Peek-a-Boo Square"..

I have decided to sign the IDA with SU!

Well, SU added a new twist to staying a Demonstrator and wanted everyone to sign a new IDA (Independant Demonstrator Agreement).. What I found out is that we are able to use other products but we are not able to mention them in our posts..it's in our best interest as SUD because then we are not sending our customers elsewhere to purchase products. I'm ok with this because I have lots of other products and want to continue using them and signing this agreement only means that if I do choose to use other product I just don't mention if it is say Martha Stewart or EK Success etc ... or of where I purchased them like ACMoore, Michaels etc.

Also, signing off on this agreement means that I can't be on any Design Teams because then I would have to make note of other products in the posts but that's ok because at this point I am not on any DT's and have no plans of joining in any at this time..

So, I am not closing this chapter in my life just yet... I want to see where this road takes me and I'm ready for everything that is going to come my way! This is such a Passion of mine and I just cannot see myself doing anything else.

I belong to a wonderful group online called SplitCoastStampers .. If you've never visited you should go check it out! My gallery name is happyscrapper5 I love that we are able to create projects and upload them into galleries of our own.. we can also enter them into challenges which is fun! .. you can see how others interpret those challenges and it gives you great ideas for using your stamps, inks, papers and all of your fun embellishments! There are challenges going on every day of the week that you can enter and my BFF Sue Culotti was Hostess for the "Tuesday Color Challenge" ---> Such an Honor!! .. we were to choose a color of CS and a stamp set, then create an image or images using BLEACH! .. after you did that you were to take the color it bleached out to as your second color and add a neutral color.

My Inspiration came from this very large cranberry button which blended so nicely with one of the new SU In Colors called Rich Razzleberry (RR). I chose the Friends 24-7 set for my BG image (bleached) as well as my focal image (unbleached) .. the RR bleached out to Pink Pirouette so that was my second color and for my neutral color I chose Kraft.. I bleached my background and set it aside to dry, then stamped the bird with RR onto Kraft then with my Stamp-a-ma-jig I stamped over the bird image with versa mark and embossed.. I chose to layer that onto a piece of RR but first I used my SU Spiral punch at the top of each and then pulled both pieces through the bleach around all edges and set them aside to dry. I then stamped the floral piece in the set with RR, cut it out, inked it then added glue dots.. by this time everything was pretty dry so I began to assemble.. I used 2 pieces of very pretty kraft ribbon like you would when wrapping a gift (top to bottom was tucked under but right to left I kept the ends out and snipped them) ... and for added appeal I folded a piece and placed it under the button..I also took a smaller piece and unraveled it on both ends and layered the floral piece onto that. roughed up the spiral edges a little and viola' .. I really like how this turned out!

Here are 5 cards that I have recently completed... I'll start at the top and go clockwise...

The first one is a black tie card that was made for our son John who is getting Married in just a few short weeks (I thought it would be fun to make a guy card to Celebrate the occasion)..

This next one is the Wedding card that I made for John and his Fiance' Jai' ...

This next card I made for our Daughter Lindsey and SIL Nick, they Celebrated their 1st year Anniversay this past week (8/7/09), WOW time sure does have a way of flying by rather quickly! .. I wanted to make it even more special for them so I made the card in their Wedding colors of red/white/black and silver and they loved it! Even Nick commented on the card!

I also gave them their Wedding Album as an Anniversary gift! I didn't take any pictures of the album (gasp!) .. but I know they will Cherish it.. it was also done in their Wedding colors. These are a few of my favorite pictures taken that day ..

The last two cards were actually made for my Mom for her Birthday.. she has told me numerous times that every card that I've made for her and my Dad have brown in them(not that she's complaining) ... but she would like me to make her a card without using brown.. that is very hard for me to do! So, I took the pink watercolor rose card that I had created a while back (adding the sentiment and inside of course) and mailed it out early to her and she loved it!

Now, we had a BBQ this past w/e to celebrate Mom's special day and I wanted to have a card to go along with her gift so I created a flower pot card, notice though that it has a brown pot! I tried, I really really tried not to use brown, but Mom didn't seem to mind one bit! Actually I added more flowers and a tag to the card and may change this picture out later today but you get the idea!

Happy Birthday John Jr!

Can you believe it took 8 stamp sets to create this card (inside & out)!! I used 5 of my Studio G sets (love them soooo much) and I also used 2 CTMH sets and a SU set! ... but it took that many to get the card to look exactly as I saw it in my head! I used lots of dazzling diamonds because I wanted the candles to sparkle and then of course had to balance out the whole card by putting a bit here and there! .. and yes I had glitter on my face! I'm not really sure how but my kitty had some glitter on top of her head too (well, ok ... yes I am ... she's always right there by my feet) .. so I say, that's what she gets!

I received the ultimate compliment from John's fiance' Jai' too ... she thought it was a store bought card!

This was a gift that I made for my BFF Sue for her Birthday .. I filled it with Tazo Teas! I purchased this template from PaperTrey Inc's website. The gal who created this is Lauren Meader and she has quite a few others to choose from!

This was really fun to make and I think I will be making some Christmas card holders for gifts next! .... shhhhhhh!

Here's the Waterfall card that I made for my DGD Hailey.. she just loves birds and flowers and I'm sure that she and her brother had such fun pulling the ribbon to make the card flip up!

Everything used to make the card is from Stampin' Up and I made both of these cards in no time flat.. the secret is to cut everything before hand and then just assembly line them.. makes it so easy and what a great feeling of accomplishment!

My Father's Day Cards!!

This is the first of two cards that I made using my SU "Loads of Love" set... the idea was rumbling around in my head and being that Father's Day is right around the corner it couldn't have worked out any better!!

What I noticed after I made the card though is that the emphasis was on the word day and not Dad! .. too generic ...

..... sooooooo

The card below is what I came up with!

I like them both but I really like this one so much more ... and I know that when my Dad opens the card he will like it too! This stamp set was so fun to work with and the card came together so quickly! Gotta' love it when that happens!!

SU's new In Color re-inkers, bleach a baby wipe & some rubbing alcohol!

The first two were done using a folded up Baby Wipe with my new SU In Color Reinkers dropped on the fold and dragged across some glossy CS .. after I was done I stepped back and looked at it and decided that I would put some bleach in my aqua mister and pull it through the darker lines...

The next two were done with the polished stone technique, using rinkers, rubbing alcohol and some make up pads.. because I used glossy photo papers instead of regular glossy CS the makeup pads left a little of themselves behind.. now I know to have glossy CS on hand! I'd never done this technique before and was pleasently surprised with the results and hope to have something made with them soon!

The last photo looks really pinky but IRL it looks like a dark swirly night.. not sure why it wasn't captured that way.. the rest of them are pretty dead on..

Ohhh my Husband and I just Love Neil Diamond... I watched a movie the other day w/Jack Black, Jason Biggs and a few others I can't remember and Neil was in it too.. I've been singing his songs since!!

I'm sorry for the lack of posting these past few weeks.. my back and knee have really been giving me trouble.

I worked on a Father's Day card for my Dad and FIL and will post tomorrow! I used the "Loads of Love" set and my Big Mark Its (I LoveLoveLove these markers!) .. and I figured I would work with them before I invested all my money in Copics!

Well, I'm gonna' go try to get some sleep! Tomorrow's another day right?

"A little birdie told me" ...

I made these cards yesterday but didn't get a chance to post till tonight...

This card with the birds on a branch I made for my Darling Grandchildren Hailey and Brandon (waving Hi!) the inside says "A little birdie told us it's time for a sleepover"! They lovelovelove getting cards from Nana almost as much as I enjoy making them!

... this other card I would love to send to my Mom but she says that every card I send to her "has brown on it"... isn't that a requirement?!!! I just can't help it Mom!! I love anything Chocolate!! So I guess that I will just have to think of someone else to send it to!

Congratulations Grad!

Our youngest sons Fiance' is Graduating from Harvard tomorrow ... Harvard!! She earned a Masters in Theological Studies. We are very Proud of you Jai'~!! We couldn't be there for the Graduation Ceremony but they are getting Married in August so we will see them very soon! I hope she likes the card that I made for her! I really enjoyed making these Butterfly cards and will probably make more at some point.

Watercolor Roses and another Butterfly card!

I really enjoyed making this Watercolor Rose card at my SU mtg.. so much that I couldn't wait to get home and place an order for the Shimmery White Paper!! I can't remember if Patty Bennett was the one who created this Rose Technique but she has posted so many Beautiful cards made with them, and she also posted a whole pile of Roses in all different colors.. they were FAB-ulous!

If you haven't made any of these Roses yet I challenge you to get creative... (don't forget you'll need some Shimmery White paper, I've tried other papers but they don't seem to work as well ...

This "Just Because" card was done by embossing the rose image onto acetate then layered it over another stamped image and using liquid glue to adhere them together..

When I embossed the acetate it gave me the illusion of water droplets on the rose.. It didn't turn out like what I had in my head but I thought it was kind of a cool mistake!

I made this card at my last SU Mtg .. I'm not sure who's idea it was but it really was a quick and easy card to create! I used the Beautiful Butterflies die some ribbon a few punches some DSP and that's it! Tying the ribbon around the body of the Butterfly was an interesting twist and I will use that again and again!

Cheerful Card Holders!

These are a couple of card holders for my Beautiful Butterfly cards! You make them with 1 sheet of DSP and a template - cut, fold and glue the points together... add some scalloped edges and viola'! There are pockets on both sides and you can fit the cards and envelopes together or cards on one side and envelopes on the other!

I have been wanting to get this blog set up for my Business but it's been very difficult these past few months... I've added some things to the sidebar and will continue to update them and I will be posting cards, tutorials etc here and keep my other blog as my family journal.
